The new Ducati 899 Panigale was revealed at Frankfurt and replaces the 848 Evo Superbike for 2014. It brings an all new monocoque chassis and pumps out 148 bhp from its L-twin engine. It also brings new electronics systems and produces its maximum power of 148 bhp at 10,750 rpm and 99 Nm of torque at 9750 rpm.
It features a dual sided swingarm as opposed to the single sided unit on the larger Panigale. The front suspension is a 43 mm Showa Big Piston Fork and the rear is brought up by a Sachs unit, both three-way-adjustable. It brings advanced electronics such as Ducati Quick Shifter (DQS), Engine Brake Control (EBC), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ride by wire technology and the Ducati Riding Mode allows you to switch between multiple maps. You can also get the optional Ducati Data Analyzer (DDA) to record your track session data.
The new 899 Panigale rides on ten spoke 17 inch wheels shod with Pirelli Rosso Corsa 120/70Z R17 at the front and 180/60Z R17 at the rear. It also brings excellent stopping power thanks to the excellent Brembo unit for the front wheel with a radial mount four piston monobloc caliper mounted on 320mm twin discs. It also gets a two pot single disc setup for optimum braking performance at the rear. It even brings a triple-stage switchable ABS with three modes (Race, Sport and Wet ABS-Modes)for excellent braking performance under varying conditions.
The new Panigale is lighter, faster and more powerful over the model it replaces. We are hopeful that Ducati will bring this to India soon along with the larger 1199 Panigale.
